An important part of the Letterforum learning experience are the exhibitions of calligraphic art on display all week in various locations:
FACULTY EXHIBIT (Taylor Hall)
Following the tradition set by previous conferences, the Faculty Exhibit showcases the multifaceted talents of the Letterforum instructors. Here, you will see an example of each faculty member’s work that has not been shown before.
WCG 30th ANNIVERSARY EXHIBIT (Duke Hall)
This juried and invitational exhibit celebrates the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Washington Calligraphers Guild and features the work of local and international lettering artists.
ICH BIN COLLECTION (Taylor Hall)
This collection was commissioned by Michael Clark for his children. The words ”Ich Bin” are interpreted by international lettering artists using pen, brush and variety of other less traditional tools.
OFFICIAL WASHINGTON (Taylor Hall)
Have you ever wondered what the everyday workload of some of our Washington calligraphers entails? We are presenting you with a behind-the-scenes look at calligraphy and its uses in Washington’s political and social functions.
THE GRACEFUL ENVELOPE (Scribe's Store area)
Every year the Washington Calligraphers Guild sponsors The Graceful Envelope Contest. Entries arrive from all over the U.S. On display are the winners of the 2006 contest.
PARTICIPANTS EXHIBIT
All participants are invited to bring along a matted but unframed piece for this exhibit. It is a self-hung exhibit, and hanging supplies will be provided. The exhibit will be held in the Duke Art Building, so visit when you arrive to hang your piece. Please label each piece with your name and guild.
LETTERFORUM ENVELOPES
The humble envelopes that Letterforum participants use to mail in their registration forms are works of creativity and whimsy. You'll be amazed at the variety of ideas in this informal exhibit. |
